RELATIONSHIPS
Does Albel really hate everyone? I'd like to warn you, although I tried to base this off facts, this is still my oppinion. However, if I'm horribly wrong somewhere, please correct me. Both love and friendship-based relationships are a bit mixed here. Don't worry, I won't discuss him being paired with Woltar ;) but expect some yaoi-suggesting here.

Glou Nox
Albel's father. Though not much is known about him, he was the captain of the Dragon Brigade and a close friend of Woltar. Albel respected his father without doubt. He admired him, he wanted to follow him in his footsteps, and he probably wanted his father to be proud of him. Glou must've cared greatly for his son as well, since he sacrificed his life to save Albel's. Albel always blamed himself for the death of his father.

Woltar
Captain of the Storm Brigade, a close friend of Glou Nox, and the only person who can call Albel "boy" and get away with it. He also was a honourable fighter back in his days. Wether he had a wife of children is unknown, however, I think he acts as a sort-of father figure to Albel. Not only does he know much about Albel, he probably took care of him after Glou died. A good example would be what the maid in Woltar's mansion tells you about Albel. Albel would cause trouble and Woltar would scold him. Woltar watches over Albel, like a father would. I think Albel respects Woltar too, though he'd never admit it.

Duke Vox
If there's anyone Albel doesn't get along with, it would be Duke Vox, Captain of the Dragon Brigade. The dictionary describes it as "a clash of strong personalities". Though true for a huge part, I think there's more to it. Duke Vox probably replaced Glou as the captain of the Dragon Brigade, a place that belonged to Albel's father! Albel might've had the feeling that Vox simply didn't belong there. On the other side, Duke Vox didn't like Albel because of his rebellious and arrogant nature. He prefers people he can control, he couldn't control Albel.

King Airyglyph XIII
Also known as Arzei Bohnleid, he's the king of Airyglyph. I think the king trusts his captains, or they wouldn't be a captain at all. Though I think the relationship between Albel and Arzei is strictly business on most part. Despite his rebeliousness, Albel is loyal to his king. However, in the manga he's quite rude to the king instead. However, the Crimson Scourge scene explains that Albel doesn't truly trust his King, but then again Albel is quite distrustfull of others in general. Arzei on the other hand, mentions that he's quite fond of him in the game, though we don't know in what aspect. I've seen a few fanfics with this pairing, but because of Albel distrusting the King, I don't think this would work out very great, since trust is one of the most important things in a relationship. If Albel doesn't trust Arzei, he won't open up to him. But who knows what might happen in the future.

Fayt Leingod
Halfway of the game, Albel doesn't really like the fact that Fayt and crew have beaten him. Wether he'll join your party or not, in both cases he wants to be better then Fayt. He says so at the Kirlsa Training Facility, something along the lines of Fayt being his to beat, I think he's referring to Fayt at least. When not joining the party he'll challenge Fayt to a battle. When Fayt wins, Albel wants to join to get better. But despite this and the difference in their personalities, they don't clash. They are two complete opposites, (Albel being the cold and anti-social bastard, Fayt being the typical nice-guy; friendly and he won't abandon anyone in need) but I think they would balance each other perfectly. Fayt was the (only??) one who respected Albel, accepted Albel in the group, and actively tried to understand and befriend Albel. Albel on the other hand, trusts Fayt, opens up to him and respects him. If there's anyone Albel could have a love- or friendly-based relationship with, it would be Fayt.

Cliff Fittir
Quite an interesting relationship, since they're both quite stubborn and confident in their fighting abilies. When they first meet, Cliff is irritated by Albel's arrogant behaviour. Albel states Cliff is no match for him, Cliff being Cliff he thinks he can handle Albel any day. In the beginning Albel sees Cliff as a giant dumb oaf, and Cliff sees Albel as an arrogant ass. However, there is one quite remarkable event that will blow all that away. At the beginning of disc 2, you get transported back to the Kirlsa Training Facility and get in trouble with the Vendeeni. Albel saves the day, however he gets injured in the progress. It was worried Cliff's reaction what suprised me the most. And it might be me but the bickering between them wasn't that apparent after Albel joined your party. I think their opinions about each other changed gradually during the game, more to a positive side. Cliff is more intelligent and understandable then you would think at first glance, and Albel might learn to trust Cliff. If given time, they might develop a friendly relationship, if not more. But because they are both so stubborn, it would lead to comical scenes

Nel Zelpher
Albel and Nel would understand each other pefectly, they are both very-skilled fighters, they both put their duty first, and they both know what the battle-field and what war is like. I also like to think that they at least respect each other in some form. The only problem would be that they are both from a different country, previously at war, meaning they were enemies. The deeds done by their countries may have created ill-will, especially for Nel towards Albel. Nel also views Albel as a cruel and arrogant fighter. Plus, they have different views on many things, so they'd end up bickering and arguing a lot. But if Nel manages to see past Albel's attitude, something more might develop. Love-based, I think they'd make an interesting couple that balance each other well, and the akwardness at first will only be amusing. They'll have to grow more to each other. One funny side fact; Albel starts out with 20 affection points for Nel, while Nel starts out with 15 affection points for Albel XD

Maria Traydor
Not only did these character's barely interacted, they both have quite an attitude which I think would clash a bit. But I'm going to do my best writing something here. They both are a bit cold. However, Maria is a clever, strong-willed and brave character (though a bit bossy and bitchy sometimes, don't get me wrong I like her though). She surely isn't weak, and I think Maria respects Albel (at least I don't see her complaining about him, the only remark would be when Albel tries to join the party again on Disc 2 after the events at the Kirlsa Training Facility, where she wonders whether he knows what he's doing). Albel on the other hand, he refers to her by her normal name in Gemity instead of "Maggot", but then again that doesn't say much. It's a bit unclear what Albel thinks of Maria. I don't think this will go much further then companionship though.

Sophia Esteed
A pairing I've seen quite a lot suprisingly. But I doubt this would work out actually. They hardly interact, and for good reason; their personalities simply don't match! Sophia is your ordinary girl-next-door, clingy, not really much of a fighter (in fact I don't even think she likes it), and not strong-minded when it comes to danger of physical pain. On the other hand we have Albel, a strong warrior who despises the weak, throws insults at basically everyone, merciless in battle and basically rude and arrogant. How would these two match I wonder? One person is basically everything what the other doesn't like. Albel would view Sophia as a weak, annoying girl. Sophia would view Albel as a rude and cruel person. I don't think they'd even get along very well, let alone a love relationship. Even when Sophia would try to understand Albel, she'd probably get frustrated before she does, and Albel on the other hand wouldn't have the patience or interest to put up with her.
